Leveraging the New Intelligent Management Features of WebSphere Application Server 8.5

Last summer, IBM released WebSphere Application Server 8.5. Since this was just one year after the release of WebSphere 8.0 the conventional wisdom might be “there must not be that many new features”. Quite to the contrary, WebSphere 8.5 has quite a few new features designed for advanced management of WebSphere environments. These are termed “intelligent management” by IBM because they allow WebSphere to do things like automatically take actions like restarting a server if certain conditions are observed, support the concurrent deployment of multiple application versions and route user requests based on which application version they are using, expand the size of clusters and prioritize requests for high priority applications if SLA metrics are not being met.
