What is the Canada Job Grant?

The Canada Job Grant is a program that combines federal and provincial funding to subsidize training for employees of private and non-profit organizations.

This grant empowers businesses to provide resources for employees to enhance their skillset and advance their position and create opportunities for new employees to enter the workforce. Web Age can help your business leverage this opportunity to access high-quality training and development.

How does the Canada Job Grant Work?

Approved funding is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and each year’s funding coincides with the government’s fiscal year of April 1 to March 31.

Unlike many other grant and subsidy programs, the Canada Job Grant is a quick and simple process to access funding when you need it.

How do I apply for a Canada Job Grant?

Each Province and Territory has its own process, so you’ll want to inquire where you live. In most parts of Canada, you can apply online, by email or regular mail, but in some places, you’ll need to apply in person.

Who can apply?

Private and non-profit organizations are eligible for application. The program is designed to improve existing skills and develop new skills for employees.

Who is eligible to apply?

The Canada Job Grant invites applications from employers in private and non-profit organizations. The program aids employers in training new hires and in upgrading the skills of their existing employees.

How does the process work?

The process involves six steps:

  1. Identify and document the business’ training needs and costs.
  2. Submit documentation for funding approval.
  3. Once approved, schedule and purchase training with Web Age.
  4. Employer receives 80% reimbursement of approved training subsidy when training begins.
  5. Submit proof that training is complete.
  6. Employer receives remaining 20% reimbursement of approved training subsidy when training is complete.
How does the application and approval process work?

There are four steps to the Canada Job Grant process. First, the employer identifies the training needs. Next comes the application process. After the application is approved, the training takes place, and following that proof that the training was completed is required and any remaining reimbursements for the funding is sent. The employee is now ready to put their new skills into action on the job.

The approval process generally takes between 30 and 60 days. We recommend allowing at least 60 days between the date of your application and the start date of your Web Age course.
