Minimum Hardware Requirements
- P Series 375 Mhz or faster

- Make sure you have 2 gig’s free under /usr
- Make sure you have at least 150 Megs free under /tmp.
- Make sure you have at least 2 gig’s free under /.

- DNS setup or a small DNS setup through the hosts file

Minimum Software Requirements
- AIX V5.1 with 5100-05 maintenance pack. (The patch installation can be found in this bundle) *
- WebSphere V5.1 for AIX *
- WebSphere Network Deployment V5.1 for AIX *
- DB2 V8.1 EE for AIX *
- ASTK for Windows *
* – indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD.
Installation
Note: The drive with the installation files will be referred to as drive X: , please substitute this drive letter with the appropriate CD or network drive letter.
Receive the following CD(s) from Web Age Solutions:
- WebSphere V5.1 AIX
- WebSphere Network Deployment V5.1 AIX
- DB2 V8.1 EE AIX
- ASTK for Windows
- AIX Maintenance patch.
- Install the AIX Maintenance patches following the patch installation guide that can be found in the setup zip you received.
- Create a directory called software/WebSphere under /.
- Copy the contents of the WebSphere V5.1 AIX CD to /software/WebSphere.
- Create a directory ND under /software.
- Copy the contents of the WebSphere Network Deployment V5.1 AIX CD to /software/ND.
- Refer to the DB2 Setup guide for the DB2 installation. The DB2 setup guide can also be found in the setup zip you received.
- Untar the supporting zip to all the machines in the class. Unzip the supporting zip to the instructors machine.
- (Instructor Machine) Copy the contents of the ASTK for Windows CD to a new folder ASTK under C:/.
- (Instructor Machine) Click the link ASTK Setup for installation of ASTK.
- Make sure all the computers are on a DNS or edit the hosts file of every computer to the hostname of every network computer and then test the connectivity by typing ping hostname of the network computer.
