WA1917 Soft Skills for Information Architecture Training and Courseware
(Coming Soon)
|
The role of the architect involves more than technical expertise. The soft skills workshop is designed to ensure that trainees are aware of the challenges and the many demands that are placed upon the architect from an organizational perspective. Attention is given to the subject of leadership, project management, communication, and navigating the troublesome political waters that architects find themselves in.
The soft skills course consists of 1-day of lecture and discussion followed by a 1-day workshop in which the trainee will attempt to solve a problem within a simulated project. In the workshop portion of the course, each trainee selects (or is assigned) a problem to solve that is part of a case study. The architect must put together a strategy for solving the problem and addressing the concerns of all the identified stakeholders within the case study. At the conclusion of the workshop, each trainee will present their problem and the approach they intend to take. Discussion between the mentor and the trainees will then be used as a way to further explore each scenario and the relative merits of the approaches taken by the trainees. |
