WA1741 Test Driven Development with JUnit Training and Courseware (Coming Soon)

This course is intended to be a “hands-on” course, which includes two extended projects. The knowledge areas in the projects (parsing and calendar usage) have been selected because they are outside the experience of most intermediate Java programmers. This gives us a large scope to experience TDD’s “learn-by-trying” approach. At the same time, both technology areas are tremendously useful once learned.

4. Lab: Exploratory Testing – How does java.util.Calendar work?

• Building a test framework- Extending TestCase
• Using External Resources: Test Data
• Other Test Runners
• Reporting test results

6. Project – A simple expression parser

Students will be challenged to build a parser capable of interpreting expressions like 2*4 + 7*3.  Instructor will introduce concepts of recursive-descent parsing and tokenization as appropriate.
