Computer Requirements

  • Dual-core 2.4GHz or faster processor
  • Windows Vista SP1, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10
  • 2GB of RAM or more
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Client version 7.0 or later (installed by default with OS).

Testing connectivity to our virtual lab

If you plan to attend one of our courses that has hands on lab exercises over the internet, please verify that you can connect to our virtual lab in advance. Ensure that you are using the same computer and network connectivity that you will be using while attending the class.

For the purpose of testing connectivity, a test machine has been setup in our virtual classroom. Please follow the instruction below to perform the test:

  1. Download and open this preconfigured remote desktop shortcut.
Click the RDP Icon to download and select open to begin the test.
  2. Remote desktop should open. You may receive a warning indicating the publisher is unknown. You can safely ignore it and click Connect.
  3. You should now be presented with a login prompt.
  4. Enter the following username and password.
    Username:LABS\wasadmin
    Password:wasadmin
  5. If authentication is successful, it should connect. You may be presented with a warning that the identity of the remote computer cannoth be verified. You can safely ignore this warning and click yes.
  6. At this point you should be logged in to the remote machine and you should see a Connection Test Successful message.
  7. Click OK.

  8. It should now finish logging in and you should see a dark blue windows desktop with a start button in the bottom left hand corner.
Note that there is nothing installed on the TEST system and the start menu is empty (for security reasons). This is just a test machine used to verify that students can connect to our systems. Your actual lab machine will have the course software and lab files installed. We will send you access details a day or two prior to the start of your class.

  9. Click the start button a couple of times to verify that you see a start menu pop up and that it seems responsive to your clicks. Stay connected for at least 2 minutes before logging off or closing the remote desktop window. Ensure that you do not receive any error messages during this time.

  10. Log off or disconnect from the remote machine by closing the remote desktop window.

If you have completed the steps above and no problems occured then you have successfully completed the test and should be ok for your class.
