WA1625 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 1000Mhz Pentium III
  • 1GB RAM
  • 2 GB free on the C drive.
  • Ethernet or Token Ring card
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Network connectivity to the internet – Internet network connectivity is needed to download server adapters in the first lab exercise.
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 / Windows XP
  • Internet Explorer 6.0
  • WinZip 8
  • WebLogic Server v10.0  *
  • WTP 2.0 *
  • MySQL v5 *
  • JDK 5.0 Update 14 *
* - indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD.
Installation

Receive the Supporting zip file by mail from Web Age Solutions.

Receive the following CD’s from Web Age Solutions:

  • WA1625 CD1 including:
    • WebLogic Server v10.0 (server100_win32.exe)

  • WA1625 CD2 including:
    • WTP 2.0 (eclipse-jee-europa-winter-win32.zip)
    • MySQL v5 (mysql-essential-5.0.51a-win32.msi)
    • JDK 5.0 Update 14 (jdk-1_5_0_14-windows-i586-p.exe)

Install and setup the software in the following order (click the software title for installation instructions):

1. Create a user called wasadmin with password wasadmin on the operating system, and grant this user administrative right. Students will login and perform all their lab work with this user.

2. Restart the computer and log in as wasadmin.

3. Copy the contents of WA1625 CD1 and WA1625 CD2 to C:\Software.

4. From C:\Software unzip eclipse-jee-europa-winter-win32.zip to C:/    This will create a folder called C:/eclipse

Installing MySql 5

5. Click the link MySQL v5 for installation instructions.

Installing WebLogic Server 10

6. Click the link WebLogic Server v10 for installation instructions.

InstallingJDK 5.0 Update 14

7. Uninstall all existing JDK and JRE installs.

8. From C:\Software, run jdk-1_5_0_14-windows-i586-p.exe.

9. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

10. Click Next to accept all the defaults in the Custom Setup screen.

11. Click Next again to accept the default install folder from the J2SE Runtime Environment.

12. Click Next at the Browser Registration screen.

13. Click Finish.

Supporting file

14. Unzip the Supporting zip file to C:\. This should create the C:\LabFiles folder.
