WA1221 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 733Mhz Pentium
  • 512 MB RAM minimum, 768 MB recommended
  • 10 GB disk space
  • Ethernet or Token Ring card
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Network connectivity to the internet
  • Must have LAN connectivity
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Red Hat Linux 8.0
  • PDF Reader program (Comes with Red Hat 8.0 by default.)
  • IBM DB2 V8.1 for Linux *
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server v5.1 for Linux *
  • ASTK for Linux #
  • IBM WebSphere Deployment Manager v5.1 for Linux #
* - indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD. # - indicates software that Web Age Solutions is not permitted to distribute.
Installation
Receive the following CD(s) from Web Age Solutions:
  • DB2 V8.1 for Linux
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server v5.1 for Linux
  • ASTK for Linux
  • IBM WebSphere Deployment Manager v5.1 for Linux
Copy the CD images onto the individual student machines. This should be the norm. Our guide should suggest one course of action only to avoid confusion.

Setup instructions

Install and setup the software in the following order (click the software title for installation instructions) :

  1. Click the link IBM DB2 V8.1 for Linux for installation.
  2. Copy the contents of the WebSphere V5.1 Application Server V5.1 for Linux CD to a directory on / preferably /WebSphere .
  3. Copy the contents of the ASTK for Linux CD to a directory on / preferably /ASTK.
  4. Copy the contents of the WebSphere Deployment Manager V5.1 for Linux CD to a directory on / preferably /ND.
  5. Unzip the file Lab Files.zip to /.
  6. Inform the students and the instructor where all the CD images can be found.
