WA1216 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 500Mhz Pentium
  • 512 MB RAM minimum
  • 6 GB Free space
  • Ethernet or Token Ring card
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Network connectivity to the internet
  • A stand alone machine to run CICS 5.0 for Windows. You can not install WSAD IE in that machine.
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 (or higher)
  • Netscape 4.7 or Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher)
  • WinZip 8.0 (or higher)
  • Disk 1 and DISK 2 of IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition v5.0 Trial  *
  • CICS 5.0 for Windows *
  • Supporting ZIP file for this class *

Installation

Install WSAD IE 5.0 using these steps:

  1. Log in as Administrator. Copy the files from each of the two WSAD IE CD in C:\temp.
  2. Double click on each wsadie_5.0_trial_part*.exe file and extract it. By default, the files will be extracted in C:\DOCUME~1\Administrator\LOCALS~1\Temp\WSADIE50_Install
  3. Move the WSADIE50_Install folder from the location above to C:\temp. Share the folder.
  4. From each of the student machines map the WSADIE50_Install folder created above.
  5. Double click on setup.exe located in that folder to install WSAD IE. Accept all default settings and complete the installation.
Install CICS using these steps. CICS needs to be installed in a single machine only. All students will access this machine over the network.
  1. Make sure that WSAD IE is not installed in the machine where you will be installing CICS. They can not co-exist.
  2. Create a folder called C:\CICS_Install.
  3. Insert the CICS 5.0 for Windows CD. Copy the contents of the CD into C:\CICS_Install.
  4. That's it. The instructor will install CICS as a part of a lab exercise.

Create a folder called C:\Supporting. Unzip the supporting ZIP file for this class in that folder.
