WA1147 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 400 MHz or faster CPU
  • 256 MB of memory or more
  • 4 GB hard disk space minimum
  • CD-ROM drive
  • LAN adapter
  • Networked
  • Internet access needed for each student to download JProbe.
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Windows NT (w/ Service pack 4 or higher)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader V4.0 or later
  • Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
  • Up to 10 licenses of Quest's JProbe*
  • IBM UDB V8.1 Enterprise Edition *
  • IBM Thread Anaylzer *
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server V4.0 Advanced Edition **
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server V4.0 Fix Pack 6.0 *
  • WinZip 8.0 or higher (downloadable from www.winzip.com)
* - indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD.
** - indicates software available to IBM Business Partners from IBM; not provided by Web Age Solutions.
Installation
Note: The drive with the installation files will be referred to as drive X:, please substitute this drive letter with the appropriate CD or Network drive letter.

  1. Receive the following CD(s) from Web Age Solutions:
    • DB2 V8.1 EE
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server V4.0 Fix Pack 6.0
    • IBM Thread Analyzer
  2. Receive by email the supporing zip file from Web Age Solutions.
  3. Uninstall earlier versions of the following software:
    • IBM HTTP Server
    • IBM DB2 UDB
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server
  4. Click the link IBM DB2 V8.1 Enterprise Edition for installation instructions.
  5. Email Web Age Solutions Inc. at davidd@webagesolutions.com or call 1-877-812-8887 ext. 26 to obtain instructions on how to install the JProbe software.
  6. Lab setup:
    1. Create a directory called X:\wasWorkshop\ and extract the supporting zip to that directory.
    2. Create a directory called X:\wasSoftwareImage and copy the WebSphere Application Server V4.0 CD to that directory
    3. Copy all the files from the Thread Anaylzer CD to X:\wasSoftwareImage\ta\
    4. Unzip file was40_ae_ptf_6.zip into C:\ WASV40AE\Fix Pack 6 from the Fix Pack 6 CD.
