Students will obtain an introduction to two members of the Rational family: Rational Software Architect and Rational Application Developer. Rational Software Architect can be used for UML modeling, Java development, application assembly, and unit testing. Rational Application Developer provides a subset of the features offered by Rational Software Architect. Students will also obtain an introduction to two members of the WebSphere family: WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Portal Server. WebSphere Application Server serves as a run-time environment for J2EE applications and WebSphere Portal Server, which runs atop WebSphere Application Server, serves as a runtime environment for portal applications.
