WA1445 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 733MHz CPU
  • 512MB memory
  • 8GB hard disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Connection to the internet
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Windows XP, 2000 or Windows NT Workstation V4.0 (with Service Pack 6a)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader V4.0
  • Netscape 4.7 or IE 5.0
  • WinZip 8.0 or higher
  • J2 SDK 1.5 (jdk-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe)*
  • Eclipse 3.1.2 (eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-win32.zip)*
  • MyEclipse 4.1.1 (EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.1.1GA_E3.1.exe)*
  • Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1_02(sjsas_pe-8_1_02_2005Q2-windows.exe) *
  • DB2 UDB Personal Edition 8.2*
 * - indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD.
Installation

Receive the following CD from Web Age Solutions:

  • DB2 UDB Personal Edition 8.2
  • WA1445 software CD containing
    • J2 SDK 1.5 (jdk-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe)
    • Eclipse 3.1.2 (eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-win32.zip)
    • MyEclipse 4.1.1(EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.1.1GA_E3.1.exe)
    • Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1_02(sjsas_pe-8_1_02_2005Q2-windows.exe)

Install and setup the software in the following order:
Task 1: DB2 UDB Personal Edition

Task 2: Install J2SE 1.5

  • Copy jdk-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe from CD to local hard drive
  • Run the executable file
  • Restart the system.

Task 3: Install Eclipse 3.1.2

  • Copy eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-win32.zip from CD to local hard drive
  • Unzip the file to c:\ide

Task 4: Install MyEclipse 4.1.1

  • Copy MyEclipse(EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.1.1GA_E3.1.exe) from CD to local hard drive
  • Double click the EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.1.1GA_E3.1.exe.
  • When asked to Choose existing Eclipse Installation Folder, please specify C:\ide\eclipse.  
  • In Where would you like to Install MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench, specify : C:\ide\MyEclipse
  • Follow the wizard steps to complete the installation

Task 5: Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1_02.

  • Receive sjsas_pe-8_1_02_2005Q2-windows.exe on CD from Web Age Solutions.
  • Click on sjsas_pe-8_1_02_2005Q2-windows.exe to install Sun Application Server
  • In Select installation directory dialog, specify: J2EE 1.4 Installation Directory: C:\Sun\AppServer.
  • Confirm the Create a directory dialog so the folder C:\Sun\AppServer gets created.
  • In the Java 2 SDK Location dialog, specify C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06
  • In Admin Configuration dialog, specify:
    Admin User Name: wasadmin
    Admin User Password: wasadmin
    Check Don't Prompt for Admin User Name
  • In Installation Options, uncheck all the options.
  • After successfully installing Sun J2EE SDK 1.4, click Start menu -> Program Files -> Sun Microsystems -> Application Server PE then Start Default Server.
  • Open a browser and enter the following URL to confirm that the Server is running.
    http://localhost:8080. The page that will come up will say Your server is up and running.

Task 6: Setup Sun J2EE SDK Development Environment

  • Add the following to the Path system environment variable:
    C:\Sun\AppServer\bin;
Add the following paths to the CLASSPATH system environment variables: .;C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\j2ee.jar
