WA1253 Lab Setup Guide
Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • 1.8 GHz CPU
  • 512 MB memory
  • 8 GB hard disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
Minimum Software Requirements
  • Windows XP, Windows 2000 sp 4 or Windows NT Workstation V4.0 (with Service Pack 6a)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • IE 6.0
  • WinZip 8.0 or higher
  • JDK 5.0 Update 14 *
  • Eclipse IDE for Java Developers *
* - indicates software provided by Web Age Solutions on CD.
Installation

Receive the following CD(s) from Web Age Solutions:

  • WA1253 Software from Web Age Solutions including:
    • eclipse-java-europa-fall2-win32.zip
    • jdk-1_5_0_14-windows-i586-p.exe

Receive the supporting zip file by email from Web Age Solutions.

Install and setup the software in the following order (click the software title for installation instructions) :

Task 1: Install JDK 5.0 Update 14

  1. Uninstall all existing JDK and JRE installs.
  2. From the CD, copy jdk-1_5_0_14-windows-i586-p.exe to C:\Software.
  3. From C:\Software, run jdk-1_5_0_14-windows-i586-p.exe.
  4. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  5. Click Next to accept all the defaults in the Custom Setup screen.
  6. Click Next again to accept the default install folder from the J2SE Runtime Environment.
  7. Click Next at the Browser Registration screen.
  8. Click Finish.


Task 2: Install Eclipse IDE for Java Developers

  1. From the CD, copy eclipse-java-europa-fall2-win32.zip to C:\Software.
  2. From C:\Software, unzip eclipse-java-europa-fall2-win32.zip to C:\ (This will create the C:\eclipse folder)

Task 3: Install the Supporting file

  1. Unzip the Supporting zip file into C:\ (This will create the C:\LabFiles folder)
