WA1385 Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators
Audience
The target audience for this course is database administrators with experience using Oracle9i, wanting to learn about the new and modified features introduced in Oracle10g
Course Objectives:
This course reviews all of the major administration features and improvements introduced with version 10g of the Oracle database Students will be able to apply their experience with previous releases of the Oracle database to this new release, which offers numerous productivity and manageability improvements Within this course, students will learn how to:

• Install and initially configure a database instance
• Load and unload data between databases, including use of the Data Pump architecture
• Enable and configure automatic database management
• Enable and configure manageability features
• Enable and use general storage management and automatic storage management (ASM)
• Exploit new security enhancements to create a trusted database environment

Course Prerequisites:
Students should have experience administering production databases using Oracle9i Students with experience in Oracle8i or earlier are required to read the course book ORACLE9I NEW &
ADVANCED FEATURES FOR ADMINISTRATORS as a prerequisite to this course

This course covers information necessary to complete the certification test EXAM #1Z0-040
ORACLE DATABASE 10G: NEW FEATURES FOR ADMINISTRATORS Oracle Corporation has recommended that students have approximately 6-months hands-on production experience before attempting a given certification test, although this may not be necessary for all professionals

This course book applies to any operating system supported by the Oracle database In particular, the examples and notations within this course are based on the Linux/UNIX and MS Windows environments

Before letting students execute the workshop setup scripts provided with this course book and discussed later in this section, you should become familiar with the script contents and ensure that they are appropriate for local circumstances At times minor changes may be needed to adapt these scripts to local conditions
