WA1378 Oracle Application Server 10g: Administration I
 
Objectives:

This course begins with an in-depth architectural discussion of the Oracle10g Application Server product and the application architectures which are based upon this product. Thereafter, one learns the tasks for basic administration of this environment. Specific administration tasks covered within this course include:

• Planning and configuration of the installation.
• Startup, shutdown and other operations of the basic services and components of the AS.
• Become familiar with the most common web-based, GUI-based and text-based administration tools available for the AS components. Using those tools, administer the services to meet the requirements of your environment.
• Learn basic troubleshooting skills.
• Learn to deploy a simple application.

Prerequisite:

While no specific prerequisites are stated for this course, it is assumed that the reader has experience using, developing or administering information systems technologies including, but not limited to, databases. In particular, experience in the following subjects will be useful:

• A working knowledge of HTML and familiarity with XML.
• The basics of the Java programming language and Java development concepts.
• Knowledge of J2EE concepts is also helpful.
• A general knowledge of TCP/IP networking, especially the HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
• A good understanding of the Oracle database.
• A working knowledge of the operating system, such as Unix, MS Windows, and so on, in which the Oracle Application Server environment will operate.

Target Audience :
The target audience for this course is Oracle application server administrators. Database administrators and senior developers interested in becoming familiar with the application server platform will also benefit from this course. .
Certification Examination :

Tests for the Oracle Certified Professional program are administered by Sylvan Prometric, Inc. This course applies to the certification as an "Oracle PL/SQL & Forms Developer". Specifically, this course considers subjects included within the examination entitled "Oracle Forms Developer: Build Internet Applications".

The course ORACLE10g Forms II: Customize Internet Applications is also required to complete the subject matter for these examinations.

Following the training sessions Oracle Corporation recommends six-months production experience with the technology prior to taking the certification examinations. While this is good practice it may not be necessary for all individuals.
