Web Age Webinar Series - SOA Adoption Planning – April 18th

Please join us on April 18th at noon Eastern Time for the next in our complimentary Webinar Series: SOA Adoption Planning presented by Kyle Gabhart, SOA Director, Web Age Solutions http://www.webagesolutions.com/news/Webinars/register.html
SOA Adoption Planning
There is a tendency for people to get overly excited about new solution sets and then look around for where they could possibly apply that solution.  Many people fall into this trap with SOA.  This is a recipe for disaster.  The approach outlined in this webinar helps business leaders to systematically guide the evaluation and pragmatic adoption of SOA.  SOA is not a panacea and should not be applied haphazardly.  This session will explore a thorough, six-step plan for evaluating and adoption SOA.

Topic List
Properly scoping SOA adoption
Roadmaps and maturity models
The SOA pilot project
The enterprise roll-out
SOA adoption gotchas
SOA adoption best practices

Come and meet us!

IBM Impact 2008 conference in Las Vegas - April 6-April 11 2008

Stuart Smith, Web Age Application Server and Portal Administration Lead, will be presenting “A New Boss in Town”
With the certification of Java EE 5 compatibility, WebSphere Community Edition v2.0 has emerged as the new “best of breed” option in the free-to-use application server market.  Several features of WAS-CE provide significant value when compared to the JBoss Application Server.  This session will demonstrate some of these differentiating features so that developers and administrators can properly leverage them to simplify application development, deployment, and administration.
Kyle Gabhart, Director of SOA Solutions will present Avoiding Governance Fallacies and Pitfalls
This session explores case studies from the Defense, Financial, Insurance, and Travel industries regarding Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) adoption and governance.  Lessons learned will be identified and best practices discussed with respect to governing Enterprise Architecture (EA) and SOA in particular.

In focus: Java EE5

Why the All the Buzz?

One of the major themes of the Java EE 5 specifications has been to simplify Java Enterprise development.  The major changes released with the EJB3 and JAX-WS web services specifications accomplish this goal.  Support for Java Server Faces (JSF) is also now a standard part of the platform instead of an optional technology.  With this Java EE 5 is beginning to catch on.  Even though the specifications were released almost a year and a half ago it has taken a while for tools and servers to support the specifications and for them to begin to be widely used in active development.

Unlike the last few releases of the Java Enterprise Edition platform the Java EE 5 specifications do contain some major technology changes and updates.  Even those that are familiar with Java Enterprise will find it useful to train on specific aspects of the new technologies and learn how to best use the new features.  Now that the new technologies are becoming more widespread look for upcoming news about new courses we will be releasing to support this.
