Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is the label that has been applied to next generation Web technologies. It describes a set of trends aimed at better information management and enhanced user experiences within the Web development space, backed by a handful of technologies and standards. There never was a Web 1.0 per se. There was just Web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.). But there is a whole new breed of Web app out there now that goes well beyond the traditional user experience (i.e. ‘Web 1.0’ experience). These new applications are more dynamic, more interactive, and offer a richer and more powerful user experience. Examples include Google apps (gMail, Docs & Spreadsheets, Maps, etc.), Wikipedia, and Facebook. These applications aim to empower users and offer rich user interfaces that rival some desktop applications. They vary considerably from their ancestors, which offered plain Web pages and simple Web forms that you fill out and click ‘submit’ to request information. They are more dynamic, engaging, and interactive. Hence the fancy label – Web 2.0. |

Service Oriented Modeling and Architecture (SOMA)
Service-oriented modeling approach provides modeling, analysis, design techniques, and activities to define the foundations of a SOA. It helps by defining the elements in each of the SOA layers and making critical architectural decisions at each level. It does so using a combination of a top-down, business-driven manner of service identification coupled with a stream of work that conducts service identification through leveraging legacy assets and systems. SOMA takes a Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach to service orientation and encourages the identification and development of a business model and architectural model as important foundational elements. |
