Expanded Linux Offerings

Linux and other “non-Windows” operating systems are becoming more popular.  This is especially true for application server environments that host web-based applications.

At Web Age Solutions we understand that although the demand for non-Windows application server administration may be high it is not always possible to run training in this environment for a number of reasons.  This can be anything from the difficulty in setting up a non-Windows lab environment to the fact that not everyone who may want this type of training may want to do the labs in a Linux environment.

We have taken the following steps to make it easier for you to run Linux-based training or a “mixed” environment where some students do labs on Linux and others do labs on Windows:

  • All of our application server administration courses that offer a Linux version have been synchronized with the Windows version so they share the same lecture and lab agenda.  This gives you the option of running a “mixed” class where some students do labs on a Linux setup and others do labs on a Windows setup.  We have found this is particularly popular where you have some administrators who will be administering a non-Windows environment and want Linux labs but there are some developers, who often work on a Windows environment who are added to the training to fill the enrollment.  This can help reduce your costs so you only need one class and one instructor but can provide the lab environment most appropriate for each individual.
  • The lab guides for the Linux versions of our administration courses have instructions, notes, and tips specific to Linux.  This means that rather than being left on their own to try and apply best practices from a Windows environment to the non-Windows production environment your administrators can have information specifically designed for the non-Windows environment they must support everyday.
  • All of our adminstration courses that provide a Linux version use CentOS for the Linux setup.  CentOS is a Linux distribution that is equivalent to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.  The difference is that since CentOS is available as a FREE download we can send you EVERYTHING you need to setup a Linux lab environment, including the Linux installation.  This makes it easier to setup a Linux lab environment with less support required and no extra software needed from your in-house Linux experts.

Check out the classes below that can be run on Linux and Windows and contact us for your Linux administrative training needs.

Through lecture and hands-on lab exercises, you will learn the essentials of data interoperability using XML, write well-formed XML documents, enforce document validity, use XSLT and stylesheets to transform XML documents, and get an introduction to XML programming options. You will also learn best practices for how to evolve XML syntax and structure over time and how XML related to some of the fundamental technologies used by Web Services.

Service Oriented Modeling and Architecture (SOMA)

Service-oriented modeling approach provides modeling, analysis, design techniques, and activities to define the foundations of a SOA. It helps by defining the elements in each of the SOA layers and making critical architectural decisions at each level. It does so using a combination of a top-down, business-driven manner of service identification coupled with a stream of work that conducts service identification through leveraging legacy assets and systems.  SOMA takes a Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach to service orientation and encourages the identification and development of a business model and architectural model as important foundational elements.
