WebSphere Application Server 8.5 Administration Fundamentals Training

Quick Enroll

Course#: WA2212

This course teaches the fundamentals of WebSphere administration. Although this course provides a basic introduction to WebSphere administration, those looking for a full understanding of WebSphere clustering should take our "full" WebSphere administration class (WA2097 - Linux, WA2088 - Windows). This shorter class is most appropriate for those that might need just an introduction to WebSphere administration like support staff and application developers that are likely not directly involved with managing clustered WebSphere environments.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Enterprise (Java EE) Applications
  • Installing and Configuring WebSphere Application Server
  • Installing Enterprise Applications
  • IBM HTTP Server Installation and Configuration
  • WebSphere Application Server Architecture
  • Application Tracing and Troubleshooting
  • Data Source Configuration and Management
  • Security Management
  • Java Messaging Service (JMS) Management

After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  • Install and configure WebSphere Application Server
  • Install, configure and manage enterprise applications
  • Configure web server integration
  • Assemble enterprise modules into applications
  • Use various troubleshooting tools and techniques to diagnose problems
  • Configure database connections
  • Configure runtime security
  • Install and configure messaging applications

This course is designed for application developers and WebSphere support staff that only need a brief introduction to WebSphere administration. This course is not intended for those that will be managing a clustered WebSphere environment. For those managing WebSphere clusters the courses WA2097 (Linux) or WA2088 (Windows) would be more appropriate.

The student should have a good understanding of Web technology, Java, and operational skills for Windows. Administration skills for a web server like Apache or IBM HTTP Server would also be beneficial although not required.

Three days.
